Dwarf Burford Holly 3-gallon Potted Plant

Dwarf Burford Holly is a compact, evergreen shrub known for its glossy, dark green leaves with a single spine at the tip. In the spring, inconspicuous white flowers bloom, giving way to vibrant red berries in the fall and winter, attracting birds and adding year-round visual interest. This hardy shrub thrives in various climates, making it a favorite for low-maintenance hedges, foundation plantings, or container gardening.

Planting Instructions for Dwarf Burford Holly
Choose the Right Location:
Select a site with full sun to partial shade. Ensure the soil is well-draining and slightly acidic for optimal growth.
Hardiness zones: USDA 7–9.

Prepare the Soil:
Loosen the soil in the planting area to a depth of 12–18 inches. Mix in organic matter like compost to improve drainage and enrich the soil.

Dig the Hole:
Dig a hole twice as wide and as deep as the root ball. This allows roots to spread easily.

Planting:
Remove the plant from its container and gently loosen the roots.
Place the shrub in the hole, ensuring the top of the root ball is level with the ground.
Fill in the hole with soil, tamping down gently to remove air pockets.

Water Thoroughly:
Water immediately after planting to help settle the soil. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged during the establishment period (4–6 weeks).

Mulch:
Apply a 2–3 inch layer of mulch around the base of the shrub, keeping it a few inches away from the trunk. This conserves moisture and suppresses weeds.

Care Tips:
Watering: Once established, Dwarf Burford Holly is drought-tolerant but benefits from occasional deep watering during dry spells.
Pruning: Prune in late winter or early spring to maintain its shape and size.
Fertilizing: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring.
Pest Resistance: This variety is naturally resistant to most pests and diseases.

Ideal for borders, small hedges, and wildlife gardens, Dwarf Burford Holly adds elegance and functionality to any landscape.
