Yellow Long Neck Fig

The Yellow Long Neck fig is known for its unique elongated shape and bright yellow skin. This variety is sweet and juicy, making it a delightful treat for fresh eating. The tree features attractive, large leaves and can grow to a good size, adding visual interest to your garden. It's an excellent choice for those who enjoy flavorful figs.

Planting Instructions:
Location:
Choose a sunny spot that receives at least 6-8 hours of sunlight daily. Yellow Long Neck figs thrive in warm climates but can tolerate some cooler temperatures.

Soil Preparation:
Ensure well-draining soil rich in organic matter. Figs prefer slightly alkaline to neutral pH. If your soil is heavy or clay-like, amend it with compost or sand to improve drainage.

Planting:

Spacing: If planting multiple trees, space them about 15-20 feet apart to allow for proper growth.
Depth: Dig a hole that is twice as wide and the same depth as the root ball. Place the tree in the hole, ensuring the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding soil. Backfill with soil and water thoroughly.
Watering:
Water the tree deeply once a week during dry spells, especially in the first year to help establish strong roots. Once established, Yellow Long Neck figs are somewhat drought-tolerant but appreciate consistent moisture.

Fertilization:
Fertilize in early spring with a balanced fertilizer to support healthy growth and fruit production. Be cautious not to over-fertilize, as this can lead to excessive leaf growth rather than fruit.

Pruning:
Prune in late winter or early spring to shape the tree and remove any dead or crowded branches. This encourages better air circulation and enhances fruiting.

Harvesting:
Figs typically ripen in late summer to early fall. Harvest when they feel soft and slightly droopy, which indicates they are ripe. Enjoy them fresh, dried, or in a variety of recipes!

With proper care, your Yellow Long Neck fig tree will produce delicious fruit and add beauty to your garden for many years!
