Planting Instructions:

Location: The Goshiki False Holly thrives in both sun and partial shade. While it can tolerate full sun, it generally prefers some afternoon shade, especially in hotter climates, to protect its vibrant foliage from the harshest sun. A location with morning sun and afternoon shade is ideal.
Soil: Plant in well-draining, slightly acidic to neutral soil. It can tolerate a variety of soil types, including sandy, loamy, or clay soils, but good drainage is important to prevent root rot. Amend heavy soils with compost if needed to improve drainage.
Spacing: For a hedge or screen, space the Goshiki False Holly 3-5 feet apart. If planting as a specimen tree or accent, give it plenty of room to grow to its full size.
Planting Hole: Dig a hole that’s about twice the size of the root ball, but no deeper. Remove the plant from its pot, gently loosen any tangled roots, and place it in the hole so that the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding soil. Fill in with soil, gently firming it around the roots to eliminate air pockets.
Watering: Water the tree well after planting, and keep the soil consistently moist during the first growing season to help it establish roots. Once established, the Goshiki False Holly is moderately drought-tolerant, but regular watering during dry spells will help it thrive. Avoid overwatering, as it doesn’t like soggy soil.
