Heavenly Bamboo Nandina 3-gallon Potted Plant

Description:
Heavenly Bamboo Nandina is a versatile, semi-evergreen shrub celebrated for its elegant, upright growth and year-round interest. Despite its name, it’s not a true bamboo but features similar cane-like stems and finely textured foliage. The foliage emerges bright green, transitions to deep red or burgundy in the fall, and may persist through winter. Clusters of small white flowers bloom in spring, followed by vibrant red berries that attract birds. Reaching a height of 4–8 feet with a 2–4 foot spread, it’s ideal for hedges, foundation plantings, or as a specimen plant.

Planting Instructions for Heavenly Bamboo Nandina
Choose the Right Location:
Select a site with full sun to partial shade. Full sun enhances the vivid red foliage, while partial shade is ideal in hot climates. The soil should be well-draining and slightly acidic to neutral.
Hardiness zones: USDA 6–9.

Prepare the Soil:
Loosen the soil to a depth of 12–18 inches and mix in organic matter, such as compost, to improve drainage and fertility.

Dig the Hole:
Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and slightly shallower than its depth to ensure the plant is not buried too deeply.

Planting:
Remove the plant from its container and gently tease out any circling roots.
Position the shrub in the hole with the top of the root ball slightly above ground level.
Backfill with soil, firming it gently to remove air pockets.

Water Thoroughly:
Water deeply immediately after planting. Continue watering regularly during the first growing season to help the plant establish strong roots.

Mulch:
Apply a 2–3 inch layer of mulch around the base, keeping it a few inches away from the stems. Mulch helps retain moisture and suppress weeds.

Care Tips for Heavenly Bamboo Nandina
Watering: Once established, Heavenly Bamboo Nandina is drought-tolerant but benefits from occasional deep watering during prolonged dry spells.

Fertilizing: Feed in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer to encourage lush growth and berry production.

Pruning: Prune lightly in late winter or early spring to maintain its shape. Remove older canes at ground level to rejuvenate the plant.

Pest and Disease Resistance: This shrub is highly resistant to pests, diseases, and deer.

Heavenly Bamboo Nandina offers multi-seasonal beauty, from delicate spring flowers to brilliant fall and winter foliage and berries. Its low-maintenance nature and adaptability make it a standout choice for gardeners seeking elegance and color year-round.
